BUSINESS TIME WITH KDCCI CEO KYLAH MORRISON

We hope you all had a relaxing Easter and some downtime to recharge and reset.

On Wednesday 21st March we held our first KDCCI Suppliers and Contractors Roundtable meeting that saw a great turnout from the local business community and representatives from major resource companies and local government.

As part of the Roundtable, local suppliers and contractors will gain better access to procurement and operations personnel from major resource companies and government, as well as receiving extra support and opportunities to hear from expert advisers to build their capability.

It is critical that local businesses are prioritising sustainable capability and capacity building as we approach another upswing with a number of projects on the horizon.

As such, we are working with industry, Resources and Engineering Skills Australia (RESA) and business advisors from the Australian Government’s Entrepreneurs Programme to co-ordinate business capability building locally. Check out more information about these initiatives below.

The information session run by PwC recently about federal and state government grant opportunities to support regional growth also saw a fantastic turnout in the KDCCI Coworking Space Boardroom.

Keith Anthonisz, Director of Malaysia Australia Connect who was visiting with PwC representatives was blown away by the response and impressed at the scale of innovative projects on the cards for regional development driven by the City of Karratha’s local business community. Go team!

On that note… we were super excited to see JetGo have announced the commencement date for direct flights between Karratha and Brisbane as 25th June 2018. Jump online to book your flights today.

Entrepreneurs’ Programme Supply Chain Facilitation

We are working with industry and business advisors from the Australian Government’s Entrepreneurs Programme to establish a Supply Chain Facilitation project in the Pilbara.

Regional businesses with an annual turnover greater than $750,000 operating in one of seven growth sectors receive free business advice from an experienced ex-private industry business advisor. These half-day 1:on:1 sessions help identify inefficiencies, re-work and non-value adding activities that could be eliminated to improve your business. Any initiatives identified that your business opts to improve could be matched 1:1 with grant funding up to $20k.
